Slowly…

Slowly,
Our flame dwindled to embers
Slowly
Our embers became cold ash.

Slowly,
The love songs became mute,
Slowly
Hummed by lips of singing shadows
bitter silence of another cold night

Slowly,
You became a familiar stranger
Slowly,
Transforming from the one that I knew
to someone that I don’t.

Doomed from the start,
Maybe it was never meant to be…
Maybe we were meant to be washed away
like footprints from the face of a lonely shore…
Slowly.
