Losing people you love affects you. It is buried inside of you and becomes this big, deep hole of ache. It doesn’t magically go away, even when you stop officially mourning. —Carrie Jones
In November last year, we brought to you a story about a friend of ours battling to stay alive. She was diagnosed with umbilical hernia and needed a lot of money to travel abroad for corrective surgery.
We came pleading for financial assistance and the responses we got were simply heartwarming. With the help of people like you, we were able to raise enough money for her to proceed to India for the surgery. It was carried out and deemed a success.
Ms. Akuwa and her family returned to Nigeria where it was our hope that the worst was solidly behind us.
Sad to say, that was not the case. We lost Akuwa on Sunday, 5th June 2016 after she had a relapse and was taken to Lagos University Teaching Hospital. And she will be laid to rest today, 11th June.
We, the entire ’97 set of Command Secondary School, Ipaja and her entire family want to thank every one of you that donated to save our dear friend and sister. We thank you for your prayers, support, and pray the good Lord replenish you all abundantly.
People like you are a testament to the fact that the country is immensely filled with kind hearted people.
Rest in Peace, Akuwa Adejo
You fought a long hard battle and at the end, we choose to see the victory.
Thank you and God bless.
