The award-winning actress topped Esquire magazine’s annual list of desirable famous females, leapfrogging her ‘Vicky Cristina Barcelona’ co-star Scarlett Johansson, 29, in the process.
In an interview with the magazine, the 40-year-old Spaniard explained how her movie roles have evolved over the years, saying she ”couldn’t be less interested in drama now”.Penelope – who is married to fellow actor Javier Bardem, with whom she has two children – explained: ”I’ve made it hard for me sometimes, especially in my teens and twenties. I had an attraction to drama.
”Most of us have that, especially if you are an artist – you feel like you are tempted to explore the darkness. I could not be less interested now. For me, the most attractive, charming, cool, fun, interesting thing – how could I call it? A plan.”
Penelope was comfortable talking about the way her career has progressed through the years but was less forthcoming when it came to her personal life, saying: ”That is for us.”
