Kate Winslet Gives Powerful Advice On Body Positivity

Kate Winslet has come out again with some incredible advice.

The Titanic star posted a photograph of herself on her official Facebook page with no makeup today, in an effort to take down body negativity. The photo was posted along with a message for anyone with a negative body image, or who has experienced negatives from other people.KateWinslet2_640x345_acf_cropped

Winslet wrote:

“I know I am chubby, I have big feet, and have bad hair days.

“When I grew up and even now sometimes, I hardly hear any positive reinforcement about body image from any female. I mostly hear negatives. But I know most of the negatives comes from the people who are busy rejoicing other people’ insults by liking demeaning post on Facebook when in reality they don’t even like themselves.

“Today, I want to put up a zero makeup photo. I know I have wrinkles on my skin but today I want you to see beyond that. I want to embrace the real me and I want you to embrace who you are, the way you are, and love yourself just the way you are. Share the message everywhere and let it reach the haters and let them know that you don’t give a damn about the negatives and you chose not to be a victim to those bullies who make fun of others based on appearances, race, gender, etc.”

“And also share if you love yourself the way you are and don’t want to change anything about it. People should appreciate you, the real you.”

This isn’t the first time the actress has come out with amazing things said. In April, Winslet recalled an exchange with her son, when he was 7 and asked what would happen if he were gay.

In an interview with V Magazine, the Grammy and Golden Globe winning actress said she was told by her son that one day he “might have a boyfriend or a girlfriend”. Then he asked her which she would prefer.

Winslet spoke to the magazine:

“I like the diversity that my children are exposed to every day. I love the way their brains work. Joe turns to me the other day and says, ‘One day, I will have a girlfriend. But I might have a boyfriend if I’m gay.’ He’s 7!

“And I said, ‘You might have a girlfriend or a boyfriend, darling.’ And he said, ‘Which would you prefer?’ And I said, ‘My love, that would be entirely up to you, and it doesn’t make any difference to me.’ But that he knows, it’s a real privilege. Talk about the best education.”

  1. Amazing! This is what celebrities should embrace, break down the negativity and bullying. Show people the real you, not the “perfect” made up air brushed people the media does their best to force down the throats of gullible public.

  2. At seven, her son was able to come up with such a grown-up question? And be so open-minded on issues that are so closeted in Nigeria? Wow! Sneer all you like at Western exposure, but it is more enlightening than it is destructive.

  3. Love urself….you are all that you have….great advice

  4. “I know I’m chubby ”
That’s me & though I admire people with well toned bodies & have tried without success to have such, I’m perfectly happy with my body.
